Challenge

Indonesia hosted the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in 2022, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Culture and TOKI. The closing ceremony was the highlight of the event and needed to leave a lasting impression on 414 onsite participants from 72 countries who came to Yogyakarta, along with 122 participants from 18 countries who joined virtually from their respective nations.

Solution

As the host of the 34th IOI, Indonesia offered a unique concept—blending culture and technology for the first time.

The event featured a mesmerizing video mapping show in collaboration with traditional dance performances, all set against the magical backdrop of Prambanan Temple. The entire program was designed to deliver an emotionally resonant experience for the participants.

Result

Participants, team leaders, and invited guests gave overwhelmingly positive feedback, praising the closing ceremony for its emotional impact. For many, it was their first time experiencing such a magical and memorable closing event.

"The show was unforgettable, and in the rows, at some point I saw people crying, including myself." – Judit, Member of IOI International Committee
